Hello Friend 👋

Monday it is!! Let's see how we can bring out the best version of ourselves this week.

The other night, right before bed, I came across a video that said: the moment you open your eyes, just say "Today is going to be a great day!" Then go on with your day. At night, look back at how it actually went.

So I tried it. Did it work? Yes!! Regardless of how the day went, by nighttime it had turned out eventful and, for whatever reason, it was a great day indeed.

Of course I had to dig into the why 🧠

Turns out our bestie brain is a prediction machine, and what you expect shapes what it goes looking for. Scientists at Penn State found that people who woke up thinking "today's gonna be stressful" had a harder time focusing and remembering things later that day. Even when nothing stressful actually happened!

If expectation can drag a day down, it can lift it up too, eh!?

Which got me thinking about dreams. Not the ones we have in deep sleep, but the ones we were asked about as kids. What do you wanna be when you grow up?
We never really stop dreaming. The career we want to grow into, the country we want to move to, the family we want to build, that new gadget or handbag you've been eyeing 👀

But while we picture those finish lines in full color, we almost never picture the day right in front of us.

That's the gap. The intention sets the tone, the planning fills the hours. Most of us only do the second one.

You know how it goes down. Eyes open, straight to the phone, straight into the inbox, and the day gets decided for us before we've consciously decided anything.

This week's challenge

Before you touch your phone, say one word for your day out loud. Bonus points if you say it looking in the mirror.

Joyful. Purposeful. Kind. Sexy. Whatever you want it to be ✨

Then at night, before bed, find one moment that matched it. Just one.

Try it all week and watch what your brain starts noticing.
